Mitchell Johnson, a South Dakota native, grew up camping, fishing, biking, and hiking. He realized, at an early age, the importance of the environment and how we as “guests” should work to preserve it.

Working in the construction and sales fields, from his early teens, gave him an ability to understand building science theory and practices while being able to easily communicate with clients and address their needs.

In June, 2006, he formed Energy Management Solutions, LLC and began working to assist builders, architects, and homeowners to create safer, healthier, more durable, energy efficient, and environmentally responsible homes throughout Hawaii and Guam.

Some of his accomplishments include:

• The first RESNET approved Home Energy Rater (HERS) in Hawaii
• The first and only RESNET approved HERS Provider in Hawaii
• The first rating firm to offer LEED for Homes in Hawaii
• Introduction of the first community in Hawaii to achieve a minimum of 50% more energy efficiency than a standard home. –Gentry Homes, Ltd. “Latitudes”
• Provided third-party certification of the first Energy Star certified community in Guam. –Watts Constructors “North Tipalao”

Peter, a life long Hawaii resident, recently became a RESNET approved HERS rater and Certified Green Professional. Having spent over 15 years in business in Hawaii, Peter brings his business experience to bear in expanding and growing Pacific Sustainable Building Science. With the addition of Peter, Pacific SBS now has two green energy raters in-house to better service clients.
